Volunteer sign-up for first meet on Monday
To sign up, follow the same instructions you used for swimmer availability, but select Job signup, select sign-up for jobs, then select the job you want to fill, then save assignment.
There are plenty of opportunities to volunteer at each meet. The list includes:
Awards- handing out ribbons to swimmers after the race
Heater- helping swimmers get from tents to heating benches and then to the coaches
Runner- collecting time slips from timers and delivering them to the score table (get your steps in)
Scoring- circling times on time sheets (Shade) Setup/takedown- arriving a little early to help set up tents and taking them down when the sun goes down. Stroke judge- watching swimmers as they swim and making sure they are doing the correct stroke. (only job that requires a certification) (guaranteed poolside) Tent parent- supervising the younger kids and getting them ready in time for their event Timer- using a stopwatch at the finish end of the pool (front row spot) We ask that each family gets involved at each meet in some capacity. I recommend trying different jobs throughout the season to figure out which ones you prefer. We absolutely want you to watch your children swim, so we usually encourage you to take a short break during their event so you can watch them. I will send out an email each week when the volunteer sign-up is open, and I encourage you to sign-up every meet. Some of the opportunities get taken quickly, so sign up early to get your preferred spot. The meets are split into halves, and most of the jobse are offered as 1st or 2nd half. Any jobs that aren't taken will still have to be filled, so I will solicit everyone standing/sitting around before the meet. Thanks, Mike Todd
