LOTS OF INFO-PLEASE READ ALL

RECAP OF LAST NIGHT'S BRIEF PARENT'S MEETING:

    • STROKE JUDGES-In order for meets to run, we need volunteers.  ONE BIG need at every meet is people willing to STROKE JUDGE.  If you are willing to be a stroke judge, you must take the League's Clinic...the last one for this season is being offered tomorrow morning at 8:30am at the Maplewood Pool, 10425 Rampart St, Houston, 77096. If you need more details, please ask me!
    • WEATHER AT MEETS Meets are VERY rarely canceled.  We must show up at a meet (even if the weather looks bad) and wait for the weather to pass for a delayed start. In the event a meet is canceled because we KNOW the weather is too bad, we will send an email to everyone and also an "alert" which will come to your phone, if you have downloaded the swimtopia app and logged in with enabled notifications.
    • WEATHER FOR PRACTICE- If a practice needs to be canceled due to weather or any other reason, we will send an email to everyone and also an "alert" which will come to your phone, if you have downloaded the swimtopia app and logged in with enabled notifications.
    • CAPS AT PRACTICE/MEETS- Swim caps at practice are required by the HSC pool for the purpose of maintaining clear and hygienic pumps/water.  As your coaches, we STRONGLY recommend they are also worn at meets for the purpose of speed. etc.  If your swimmer has issues with wearing a cap, send them to me and I will happily explain to them that the cap is part of the swimmer's uniform...just like shin guards in soccer or knee pads in volleyball.  I have no problem being the "Bad Cop" at any time!
    • HOW MEETS RUN- TOO LONG TO INCLUDE IN THIS EMAIL.  I will send out a detailed email next week.
    • WHAT TO BRING TO MEETS... Please bring water and at least 2 towels for your swimmer, as they will need one to sit on (no chairs for swimmers), and one to dry off with. Also bring cap, goggles, and chairs for adults...ALTHOUGH, we will need parents to help with timing, stroke judging, etc...so you may not need chairs!
    • DECLARE YOUR SWIMMER! THIS IS MAJORLY IMPORTANT!  Here's how:

***PLEASE "DECLARE" YOUR SWIMMERS FOR THE MEET! I NEED TO KNOW WHO WILL BE COMPETING AT THE MEET! For those of you who are new (or forgot from last year):

    • Log in to your account on our website
    • Click on "TEAM SCHEDULE"
    • Choose May 28 meet
    • Click on green box "MEET ENTRY"
    • Click "EDIT"
    • Choose "attending" or "not attending"

THIS NEEDS TO BE DONE BY FRIDAY AT NOON, AT THE LATEST!!! I know that I said Saturdays at noon at the meeting last night, but that won't give me enough time to finish the heating and seeding in time to turn in to the league by Sunday.

YOU CAN DECLARE NOW FOR ALL MEETS (and change status anytime, if necessary).  NO NEED TO WAIT until the weekend before each meet...especially if you forget things easily!

    • SWIM SUITS Texas Swim Shop,10425 S Post Oak, is holding our team suits for us.  If you can't go by there, but want/need a suit (NOT REQUIRED, BUT STRONGLY RECOMMENDED), you can call them by 5/22/24 to order and I will pick up on Thursday 5/23 before practice.  If you are going to buy a new swim suit for your child, please buy our team suit.
    • DONUTS- We traditionally have donuts on Friday mornings at practice, once we start morning practices...I will send out a sign up genius soon. If you are willing to help, please sign up.

THERE WILL BE MORE INFO SENT OUT NEXT WEEK ABOUT OUR FIRST MEET...BUT FOR NOW,

    1. DECLARE FOR MEETS
    2. ATTEND STROKE JUDGE CLINIC TOMORROW IF YOU CAN HELP IN THAT CAPACITY.
    3. DOWNLOAD THE SWIMTOPIA APP AND ALLOW NOTIFICATIONS FOR WEATHER UPDATES.
    4. GET SWIM CAPS ON YOUR KIDDOS!

Let me know if you have any questions.
